Poker Hand Rankings

Just because you hold the highest ranking hand, doesn’t mean your going to win it, but you will be in the lead. Poker is far more sophisticated and subtle, you’ll understand the first time you lose to a dead beat hand, but for know learn the poker hand rankings. Knowing the value of each hand off by heart will have you playing like a pro in no time.

When you set out on your poker playing journey, it will be a big help if you know the rules. One of the first things you will want to learn is the value of hand you are holding.

Royal flush

The ultimate poker hand is the Royal flush where you have suited cards Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten.
Next is the straight flush, a run of cards in ascending value of the same suit, the hand with the highest low card wins in the event of two straight flushes coming head to head.

Straight flush

Straight flushes come along so rarely that you will need to develop all your poker face skills to stop your eyeballs from popping out of your head when you hit one on the flop. Time to get your game face on and make sure you get others piling heavy into the pot. Nothing worse than ending up with nothing but the blinds while holding a straight flush.

Four of a kind

Four of a kind is exactly what it says it is, four cards of the same value.

Full House

Now, the hand the site is named after, the Full House. I’m not sure why but i love this hand. Three of a kind combined with a pair. Somehow it just looks neat, odds are 0.14% so they’re rare but play enough hands and you will hit one of these. I like them because they can slip under the radar, particularly if someone is going hard holding flush or a straight. Full house poker loves this hand.

Flush

The flush is a poker hand where all the cards have the same suit.

Straight

The straight is a hand where unsuited cards run in ascending order with no gaps.

Three of a kind

Three of a kind, three cards of the same value.

Two pair

Two pair, a hand that can suck you in and leave you wondering where all your money went, so don’t get too carried away with this one. If you come up with some strong raises you may be better off letting them go. As a beginner at any rate.

One pair

One pair is what it says it is, higher value pair wins when two or more players hold pairs.

High cards

Finally high cards, I have won a ton of money simply by having high cards even tho it is the lowest ranking poker hand. That is what makes poker so fascinating.

Use the poker hand ranking table below to learn them off by heart.
